I'm back! from hokkaido and krabi! hokkaido trip was indeed an eye-opener! highlight was the snow! yes! i saw snow for the 1st time...snow on the trees (lots and lots of christmas trees!!! pine trees actually...adorned with decorations! well...covered with snow rather...) snow falling down from the sky...they're like cotton wool! now i know what fluffy means....and i also know how pure white looks like....manz..the whole place was really beautiful....snow is really white...and looks like ice-kachang when it is on the ground, piled up....really love the snow.... the scenery was superb too..breathtaking! snow-capped mountains, pine trees lined up, cows and horses grazing in the snow...sounds weird, no grass, but there's hay....anyway, and also the frozen lakes and partially frozen ocean! not to mention, the valleys, in the middle of the big snow mountains! whoa....nice... we had onsen, which is the hot spring bath there! some were indoors, but there's 1 which is outdoors! the temperature is at a negative, where it's so cold outside...and you are stark naked, dipping into the hot spring....now, imagine the same situation, but now you are dipping into a hot spring situated outdoors...the cold wind blows, bringing flakes of snow...you are freezing before you get to the hot spring...so cold when you just stepped out of the building...and then, the hot spring! the water was real hot, mind you, but the wind is so cold! whoa...sensation manz....together with the wind and snow and the hot spring, and of course the view of the huge mountain infront of you, i tell you, it's real worth it to brave the cold to dip into the water! as for the food, needless to say, it's fantastic too. usually for breakfast we'll have the hotel's international breakfast (includes jap breakfast too). we also had grilled meat, hokkaido hot pot, monk's meal (it was delicious! i joked to edwin that he should be a monk since the food is real good!), steamboat, ermz...of course how to forget the crabs!!! the crabs there are huge!!!! humongous!!! seriously big!!! we had this $200++ sing dollars crabs! two of them..muhahaha...shiok! now you see the crabs alive crawling, next you see them on your table, ready to be eaten. and the following thing we did? dip the crab into wasabi and eat them...RAW! sweet! and nice! we had sea urchins and also some shells...big shell fishes....included in the tour's meal was the hairy crabs...haha..they're big also, but not as big as the emperor crabs we ordered. and they are real hairy...=p nice also!!! this is my 1st time attacking such big crabs! and eating crabs with scissors and the instrument...nice!!! hokkaido is also famous for...melons! the most expensive melon which i've eaten, $39 sing bucks..whoa....but it's veyr very sweet....haha....nice!!! not to forget the ice-cream! soft ice-cream....6-flavoured ice-cream...nice!!!!the ice-cream won't melt so fast since the temperature is like so cold there....and we can take our time to pose and take photos...(in contrast to krabi, where we had to finish our ice-cream in a jiffy else it'll melt, and by the time we'd pose for the camera, the ice-cream had either melted or eaten up...but that's in the later story...=p ) ever seen swans? beautiful aren't them? but the sound they produce is not nice...like a rubber horn 'porr-ing'....a grown up swan is so white and beautiful..but a young swan is ugly....no wonder they term it as ugly ducking...=p...we went to this lake where we fed the swans...cheeky sea-gulls will fly and try to catch the bread before they land into the lake and got to the swans/...they're real swift! and also, we went to this musical place...magical! it's a small town which manufactures music box. so you can hear the twinkling of the music box...in the quaint town, filled with twinkling music, and the snow felled....softly onto us....adding on to the white around us. truly a fantasy. there are just so much to tell, yet, so indescribable. im just so happy to be able to visit hokkaido, and with him too! the trip won't be so magical without you! so happy to travel with the one you love. =) and of course to his family too, thanks for everything! ___________________________________________________________________ i'll let the photos do all the talking, but unfortunately i don't have all of the photos as yet. ________________________________________________________________________ there'll be more photos! coming soon!!! steph @ 12/14/2006 10:22:00 AM
